This is my big family, I love dearly. ^^^
This is my beautiful wife, in our home back in Milan. ^^^
So This war sure has taken a toll on me and my friends. We are the allies with Germany and Austria-Hungary. We thought it was gonna be over by christmas but, now who knows how long were gonna be stuck here. Most my boys are dying out there and were stuck in these trenches. Jonathan, a buddy of mine, just died a few days ago. I miss him nd pray he's in a better place now. But he's not the first to have gone. Rest in peace my brothers, Henry and Charles. I'm not sure I'll make it out of here alive. And the gas. They have this gas their using, it burns and chokes you. So many men I hear yelling for help, but I can barely see. And were not all men. Theres young boys out here too, please help them get home alive. Sure we have the machine guns and we got those new bombs for the planes and they help alot. But this war is complete distruction. We go into battle and half of us don't come back.Our military is getting weaker and Italy has been separated by the north and the south. The north is industrialized, where I come from, and the south is not. It seperates us and we grow weaker. Just hope and pray we make it home.It's a bad sight and I hope this war ends soon. The Archduke.... I am sitting here thinking about when the archduke had been assassinated by the black hand, serbs. When I heard how enraged Austria-Hungary had become because, of this happening I had a feeling we would be joining this war. Soon after the death the Austrians sent an ultimatum to the Serbians. About a month later, war had been declared. Our government tried to keep us neutral and out of the war. But then Germany had come to their aid as agreed. Soon after we had declared we would stand for Austria-Hungary and Germany. Now were in this disastrous war and it's going to be a long time before I get home. In the end I hope we get the respect Italy deserves. The Trench Warfare The plan isn't working. Germany our ally, has decided to come up through belgium. We've gotten through it and it's completely destroyed. The trench warfare is so, long. I'm tired of these trenches. They weren't too bad at first but, now there to much. It's wet and cold, diseases are spreading. Were using machine guns and not many lives are spared. And something has happened. My little brother and his best friend have just arrived. They are trying to act brave but, I can tell they are scared. He's only 15. I'm doing everything I can to watch over him and at least he will get out of here alive. Christmas
Today something strange happened. Fighting was stopped and lights were lit. The central powers talked with us and we even shared jam and bread. They aren't very diffrent from us. Just men and boys fighting for their country and wanting to get home to their families.
Russia
Russia has declared they left the war today. This puts us at a little of a disadvantage and hopefully we can still stand our ground.
The Zimmerman Note
The germans have sunk Lusitania, killing 128 americans just days ago. They said they felt the ship was carrying weapons to the allies. That is no excuse to kill inocent people, if you ask me. Everyone is a little confused right now but, the americans were very upset. And yesterday they found a note writen by Arthur Zimmerman, the German Foreign Minister. The message was sent to the ambassador of mexico. It says, if Mexico helps germany in this war, that Germany will help them get back Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. The british got hold of the letter and gave it to the americans. Now everyone in america is pretty much hating the germans right now.
U.S.A
It's April now, and something great has just happened. President Wilson ( America) has asked congress to declare war on germany. That mweans they will replace Russia and we will get the help we need. Thank god.
1918
I've been in this war for a years now and I miss my family dearly, and I'm writing them as much as I can. Let's hope and pray this war won't last much longer but, who knows. Time for some good news. The U.S.A. has come through better than we expected. They have sent almost 2 million soldiers to Europe to help us allies. New spirits and hope is in the air.
Fourteen Points
President Wilson had just issued a list of terms for ending this war and hoping for no future wars. He's called for free trade, freedom of seasm large-scale redustions of arms, and an end to secret treaties. He wants Self-Determination in Eastern Europe, so we can choose our own goverment.
Attack
We have just launched an attack on german that backed them across France and Belgium! Thank God! We have great spirits and hope for a soon end.
Armistice
The new German goverment has sought for an agreement to end all this fighting with us allies. Let's hope this will be the end and I can go home to see my beloved family.
Treaty of Versailles
Us allies have made a treaty to end this war. We are demanding Germany sign. We have fully blamed the Germans because, they were the cause and are to blame. Also, Germany has to pay the many reparations ( there saying over 30 billion). The wives and families that have lost their their husbands are to get pensions, I'm glad. Oh, and they have to limit the aize of their once great military. They even have to give Lorraine and Alsace back to France. We have taken away their over-seas colonies. Vittorio Orlando, our prime minister, mentioned that when we declared war on germany in 1915 we would be given Tyrol and Dalmatian Coast at the end of the war.
The End of War
It's a joyous afternoon on November 12. Yesterday the war had ended and I'm on my way home to my family. I'm lucky to be alive and healthy. I hope my family is well.
Going Home
I'm finally home. My family is happy to have me and we send so, much time together now. I told them all about th war, besides the things that might scare them. My father told me how proud he was of me. I'm home and happy but, I still here things of the goverment. The paris peace conference came up with the League of Nations. They are more than 40 nation joined together to talk through arguments instead pf going to war. The leaders agreed to take commom action against and threat. This odes give me hope and mabye it might work. War is a terrible thing and I don't want any of my sons to ever have to deal with it.

Italy in War.....
